Bands on lockdown

Most bands are on lockdown because of the coronavirus and the risk of catching Covid-19. C5 the band is no exception. We meet up regularly for the band banter more than anything (you cannot play music together over the internet because of the timelag between plucking or singing a note and it reaching your fellow musicians and their notes and beats coming back to you).

We had several gigs lined up for this point in the year, all of which are unfortunately cancelled or postponed, as you would expect. Fairs and festivals all blown out of the water, all the pubs dry and locked up, sadly…

However, the show must go on, and as it’s the 75th Anniversary of VE Day on the 8th March, singer-guitarist Dave Bradley has spent a week or so pulling together various performances from local musical talent to put together a newsreel, along with his pastiche of a 1940s Pathe newsreader and his authentic Spitfire and Lancaster footage from ATC flypasts to celebrate the day in online style.

The newsreel will be broadcast on Facebook at 08h00 on 8th May, but if you happen to be a fan of the band and checking out the C5 web page right now…Thursday evening, you get a sneak preview…
