Back in June 2017, C5 performed for the first time with drummer Adam. The initial gig was in the village of Dry Drayton at a mini-festival called Beyond the Ice House. We were missing backing vocals from Andrea that day, but she made up for it when the full line-up of the band performed at the Fen Edge Family Festival in Cottenham midsummer weekend that year.
Later in 2017, we were invited to provide musical support for a run and post-run event in Dry Drayton that was to take the place of the resurrected Grunty Fen Half Marathon, which would for the next few years be called Grunty Fen on Ice (GFOI). We’ve performed at every one of the GFOI since!
7th September 2025 was the anniversary, lovely sunny start (as per usual), great chance to sing a few songs including ones from the Stones to Styles and everything you can imagine in between and beyond, our uniquely eclectic repertoire. This year, we had the joyously jazzy Josh sitting in on drums, Roger our bassist had of course run the actual half marathon that morning, superhero that he is, Rich on lead guitar, Jo on lead vocals, Andrea on backing vocals, and Dave on acoustic guitar and vocals.
Beyond the Ice House was a charity event and if memory serves part of the GFOI is too…so, as a band, we’re rather proud to have been taking part in all of this for the fun we have and for the funds it helps raise. Here’s to the next ten years!
